Mark Culhane

Principal & Co-Founder

Mark Culhane has been helping people and organizations manage their money for more than 25 years. Mark often advises families with significant assets and other issues that require the wisdom that comes with experience.

"They trust me with their life’s earnings and their hopes and dreams, which is a responsibility I take very seriously. My value as an advisor lies in my experience and judgment – but my real value lies in keeping in mind that this really isn’t just about money – it’s about helping people realize their dreams and live the lives they wish. You can’t put a price tag or a dollar sign on that.”

Prior to co-founding WealthSpring Advisors, Mark served as president of Great Northern Capital, an institutional investment firm, and as senior vice president and CFO of Investment Advisers, Inc., a registered investment advisory firm that managed more than $11 billion in assets.  He also served as a financial consultant at A.G. Edwards & Sons.

Prior to entering the investment industry, Mark was the London-based director of European finance for Northwest Airlines, and the CFO of MLT Vacations, a tour wholesaler with well over $100 million in revenue. He has overseen the creation and adoption of corporate retirement plans in the U.S. and countries throughout Europe.

Mark graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Economics, where he also served as captain of the NCAA Final Four hockey team.  He earned an MBA in Finance from the University of Notre Dame, and has studied and lived in both England and France.  As part of his dedication to youth and education, Mark has served as executive director of a Chicago-based education foundation, and as the volunteer coach of several youth hockey teams and summer camps.

Mark met his wife, Mary, while they were both studying abroad in London through Notre Dame’s International Program. They have been married for more than 30 years, and are the parents of three children: Ryan, who is recently married, and two college aged daughters, Elizabeth and Catherine.
